2016 Audi RS7 First Drive: Same Thrills, Plus Detail Refinements
Jens Meiners November 2014
We called the RS7 “Quattro's best work yet,” in a recent comparison test, which it won. The car is now even better. For 2016, the Audi RS7 sees subtle upgrades inside and out, much like those that apply to its stablemates, the A7and the S7. The RS7 already was the freshest of the trio, having arrived here for 2014, so these changes are even less obvious.
Outside, it gets new head- and taillights similar to those that grace its less powerful siblings. But the style of the front bumper and lower air intakes remains almost identical to the pre-face-lift models (which should please current owners). With its large 20- or 21-inch wheels and matte-aluminum décor, the RS7 is the most impressive and perhaps the most harmonious in the lineup. Neither garish nor over-the-top, it does look imposing. With its new headlight contour, it reminds us of the original Audi Sportback concept that preceded the A7 on the show circuit. Click Here for Full Article
Commence Face-Melting: 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 0–60 and 1/4-Mile Times Announced!
Andrew Wendler October 2014
Chevrolet has announced its official performance estimates for the 2015 Corvette Z06, and, uh, they don’t disappoint.
The best numbers were obtained using Z06 coupes equipped with the new eight-speed automatic transmissionand the Z07 performance package, which adds Brembo carbon-ceramic brake rotors, Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires, and the most spoilertastic and downforce-enabling aero bits available on the Z06. (Chevy will offer a number of different aero bundles.)
Chevrolet claims the Z06 sprinted through the benchmark 0-to-60-mph measure in just 2.95 seconds and that it annihilated the quarter-mile in an equally impressive 10.95 at 127 mph. Those who opt for the seven-speed manual transmission will have to be content with claimed 3.2- and 11.2-second (also at 127 mph) times. The car is propelled through time and space by a supercharged LT4 small-block V-8 making 650 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque. Click Here for Full Article
2015 Jaguar F-type R Coupe Tested: A Truly Great Car—Period
Daniel Fund November 2014
“No! It is not a car for a dentist’s wife!” came my Brit companion’s incredulous response. I was sitting lakeside several years back, having a few beers with some visiting Englishmen, when the topic of the Jaguar XK came up. I might have been overstating my position on the car (thank you, beer), but the thrust of the whole dentist’s-wife contention was that in the States, people don’t really view the Jag XK as a direct competitor for the Porsche 911. Mercedes-Benz SL, sure. But 911? Nope.
This did not sit well with the crowd, and it took a transplanted Brit, who also happened to once work for Jaguar in the U.K., to confirm our analysis before things quieted down. The group then began discussing how it was that English sausages were more beautifully formed than German ones, a topic about which we thankfully have no opinion. Click Here for Full Article
